City have completed the signing of Hibernian winger Ivan Sproule for an undisclosed fee.

The Northern Ireland international agreed personal terms and completed a medical at Ashton Gate this afternoon. The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract.

The Tyrone-born wing-man has enjoyed an unusual rise up the footballing ladder after being plucked from semi-professional football at Institute (Northern Irish club) by Hibs.

Sproule played 94 times and netted 18 goals for the Edinburgh club during his two-and-a-half year stay and was adored by the Hibees fans. He also won a CIS Insurance Cup winner's medal last term.

Famed for his quick feet and lightning pace, Sproule also enjoyed a dream debut and full debut for Northern Ireland.

After earning his first cap as a substitute in Northern Ireland's historic 1-0 win over England in September 2005, Sproule then netted on his full debut with his first touch in a victory over Estonia.

Sproule will now be looking to add to his eight international caps by impressing new international boss Nigel Worthington in the Championship with City in 2007/08.
