DEFENDERS AGREE EXTENDED STAY
Louis Carey and Jamie McCombe have committed their futures to the club.
Bristol-born Louis' deal was due to expire at the end of June, but bcfc.co.uk can reveal he has signed a new two-year contract.
Fans' Player of the Season Jamie McCombe has extended his current deal to keep him at Ashton Gate until the end of the 2008/09 campaign.
Gary Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: "Louis has been a stalwart for the club this season, playing a good number of games and now we've extended his deal for two more years.
"He's captained a promotion-winning side and has been rewarded for that."
On Jamie's contract extension, Gary said: "Jamie came here on a lower wage and I told him when he signed 'if you can get yourself in the first team regularly we'll sort out your contract'.
"Jamie responded in the best possible way by trusting my word and becoming the player of the season. He fully deserves this new deal."
The City manager added: "Both these players agreed to the new deals in the final month of the season - even before we knew where we would be next year, so that shows their commitment to the club."
Chairman Steve Lansdown said: "Louis has had an excellent season, developing as a leader on and off the pitch. He's been a vital part of our promotion-winning team and we're delighted he has committed his future to Ashton Gate.
"Jamie has made the transition from League Two to League One seamlessly and has also been a vital part of the squad, ultimately becoming Player of the Season.
"We look forward to seeing them both in City shirts in the Championship."
