Bristol City 0-6 Cardiff City
Adam Baker reports from Ashton Gate
City suffered humiliation at the hands of Cardiff City at Ashton Gate, losing the Severnside derby by six goals to nil.
It was the first time City had conceded six at home in the league since the 6-1 drubbing by Wolves back in November 1998.
The host were four-down by half-time, and it was six without reply with an hour gone.
Michael Chopra and Ross McCormack each bagged two, Peter Whittingham one and Liam Fontaine scored in his own goal.
Chances were seriously limited for City, who had handed debuts to new signings Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Patrick Agyemang.
The home side actually started well with Campbell-Ryce and Agyemang both looking lively early on. On-loan QPR striker Agyemang teed up Cole Skuse after just seven minutes and his low shot was held by David Marshall.
Agyemang was involved again as a neat pass almost put Nicky Maynard clear but the striker shot wide when over-stretching.

At the other end Whittingham volleyed high over the top, before Maynard went close again. This time from 30 yards, Maynard took aim and sent a bending shot just past Marshall's left upright.
The floodgates opened on 19 minutes as a ball over the top caused confusion between Fontaine and Dean Gerken. Chopra nicked in and stabbed a shot against Gerken's body. The ball rebounded loose and dropped at the feet of Whittingham who coolly slotted beyond covering defender Jamie McAllister into the unguarded net.
Campbell-Ryce broke into the box following a one-two with Maynard but fired wide when trying to find an instant response for his new club.
But more misery was to follow as Gavin Rae broke loose on to Joe Ledley's pass and advanced towards goal. Rae's shot was scuffed but it inadvertently set-up McCormack in the box who beat Gerken to the ball to make it 2-0.
Almost straight from the kick-off, McCormack received the ball and sent a pass down the channel for Chopra to move into the area and smash a low shot across Gerken and inside the far post.
In the space of just five minutes City had gone from all square to three goals down - and Ashton Gate was stunned.
Worse was to follow two minutes before the break when Chopra whipped in a cross from the right and Fontaine, under pressure from Bothroyd, sent the ball into his own net.

Misery for City in the Severnside derby at Ashton Gate |
Gary Johnson responded by replacing McAllister for Lewin Nyatanga at the break. But whatever the City boss said to his players in the dressing room at the interval soon went up in smoke.
It took just 50 seconds of the second period for Bothroyd to gather the ball and send Chopra clear for a simple finish under Gerken.
Whittingham came close to adding to his and Cardiff's tally, but then on 56 minutes Chopra rolled a corner kick into the path of McCormack and his powerful low drive beat Gerken inside his right-hand post.
City tried to rally as Louis Carey's header was cleared from the line by Bothroyd, and then Skuse rattled a shot into the side-netting from close range.
The night was summed up for the home side in the 90th minute when Maynard let fly with a 25-yard free kick that was arrowing into the top corner before Marshall pushed the ball against the post with a stunning save.
Boos and jeers greeted the final whistle, with only a small pocket of 693 away fans left cheering inside Ashton Gate.
