Wolves 2-0 Bristol City
Adam Baker reports from Molineux
League leaders Wolves showed their clinical edge with goals from Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake enough to earn a 2-0 victory over City at Molineux.
Kightly's effort was a rather fortuitous free kick on 17 minutes to give the team in the gold and black an early advantage.
City had their chances but when they couldn't find the net, Ebanks-Blake made them pay with a smart finish midway through the second period.
Chris Weale retained his place in goal and Marvin Elliott lined up in midfield, with Cole Skuse at right-back, as Gary Johnson stuck with the second half team that beat Doncaster 4-1 a week earlier.
But Wolves came out of the traps flying with Andy Keogh and David Jones - with a deft chip - both going close early on.
In response Nicky Maynard fired over the top with a half-volley, but soon City were on the back foot again - leading to the 17th opener.
Skuse chopped Matt Jarvis down on the left - earning a caution and giving Kightly the chance to swing in the resultant free kick. The winger's effort looked to be a cross, but it dipped over Weale and into the goal for 1-0.

Michael McIndoe shows his frustration against his old club |
Lee Johnson and Dele Adebola linked up well to feed Ivan Sproule down the right and his low shot was well saved by Carl Ikeme - Wolves' stand-in keeper.
Referee Phil Crossley adjudged Richard Steerman had passed back to his keeper on 25 minutes, although it looked like the ball came off the former Leicester player's knee. Nonetheless, from the indirect free kick in the box, McIndoe's low shot was well blocked and McAllister's follow up attempt saved.
Ikeme was again in the thick of the action on the half-hour, tipping over Adebola's headed attempt from McAllister's arrowing cross. Then Nicky Maynard warmed Ikeme's hands with a low shot.
Back at the other end Ebanks-Blake missed from a couple of yards out and then, before the half was out, drilled a low shot wide of the post.

Liam Fontaine is brought to the ground by Karl Henry |
Wolves began the second half as they had the first, strongly and on the front foot.
But they found Weale up to the task, producing fine saves to deny headers from Jones and Ebanks-Balke in the space of three minutes.
Then McIndoe had a great chance at the other end after Johnson's free kick had been flicked on by Fontaine. The winger took aim from ten yards but the low shot flashed wide of the far post.
Weale made another smart save to tip wide Keogh's low shot, before Adebola flicked a header agonsingly wide for City.
Then on 68 minutes came the killer goal, Ebanks-Blake was on the deck, but as Jarvis headed the ball in, he angled his body to flick the ball in almost over his head.
City could find no response as Wolves professionally played out the rest of the match without any real scares.
Keogh twice went close for the hosts before the Ole's came out from the home support, clearly enjoying being top of the table.
