Ipswich Town 2-0 Bristol City
James Healey reports from Portman Road
City suffered defeat for the third time in four Championship matches at Portman Road.
Goals from Tamas Priskin and Jason Scotland were enough to secure the three points for the Suffolk outfit.
It leaves City entering the international break without a victory in 2010/11, and in the relegation zone - albeit with just four matches played.
Grant Leadbitter was unlucky not to open to scoring for Ipswich after 11 minutes from a well-worked free kick. New signing Scotland wormed his way through the City defence, only to see his run end by a foul from Nicky Hunt. Former Sunderland midfielder Leadbitter received the ball from the free kick, flicked it up with his right boot and unleashed a venomous volley against the crossbar which luckily rebounded to safety.
Scotland nearly opened his account for Ipswich on 20 minutes when his left-footed shot flashed past David James' post.

Grant Leadbitter's early free kick rattles the City crossbar |
New signing Jon Stead and Albert Adomah both tested Martin Fulop in the Ipswich goal only to see their shots easily saved.
City almost found themselves one down on the half hour when Priskin pounced on a loose ball and rattled the crossbar from just inside of the six yard box.
The first half ended with City having the majority of the play with Stead, Adomah and Pitman all linking well and forcing Fulop into saves.

Albert Adomah takes on Jaime Peters at Portman Road |
At the start of the second period, Ipswich were again the team who looked like scoring first.
Priskin picked up the ball after loose control from Damion Stewart. The Hungarian international back heeled the ball into the path of Scotland who struck a right footed curling effort towards the City goal, only to see it clip the top of bar and out for a goal kick.
It was the home team who did take the lead on the hour. A backpass from Adomah caused confusion between Liam Fontaine and David James. Priskin managed to sneak in to slot the ball into an empty net despite the attempts of Stewart to clear it away.

Brett Pitman went close to scoring on his City debut |
Tom Williams replaced the injured Jamie McAllister in the 74th minute to become the fourth player to make his City debut at Portman Road.
Just one minute later Ipswich Town's new striker Scotland made it 2-0 to the hosts. He was on hand to slide the ball into an empty net after James had palmed away an initial 25-yard shot from fellow striker Priskin.
City's now have the international break before the next trip away to Scunthorpe United on September 11th.
