Five points from the last three games has given us a good basis to kick on for the rest of the season.
Our clean sheet at Portman Road followed a similar achievement at Middlesbrough and was pleasing as it is something we have been working on as a back four.
That said, defending is a team effort as well and Chris Iwelumo has helped a lot since he has come in.
I felt we started well and controlled the first half and created a good chance late on through an excellent through ball from Fonts, which Chris unfortunately headed onto the bar.
But they were the better side in the second half and, in all honesty, if it wasn't for a couple of good saves from Gerks we probably wouldn't have come away with a point.
As for the late throw-in which thankfully ended up in the back our net without anyone getting a touch, I gave the shout to Gerks to leave it as we had been working on long-throws in training...honest.
Seriously, the only time I recall seeing anything similar was in the Birmingham/Aston Villa derby a few years back when Villa keeper Peter Enckelman somehow let a throw-in from one of his own defenders go in off his foot.
Tomorrow's game is followed by a run of three tricky away games, but if we can go into them in a confident frame of mind we could well be coming back to Ashton Gate for the big game against Newcastle in two weeks time with everything to play for.
Saturday's home game will see the club raise awareness for Help For Heroes and Sport Relief which reminds us that, whatever happens on the pitch, there are worst things happening in the world.
On a personal level, my brother-in-law was recently in Afghanistan for six months and it was a constant worry, especially every time you heard the news. We are very lucky having men and women like him who are prepared to put themselves on the line for us.
The support has been fantastic in the previous two home games - please get behind the team again this weekend and we will do everything we can to give you something to cheer about.
Finally, there's been a glut of questions from fans this week, and here's where I answer them!
Fan Question: I read that you have broken Trevor Tainton's record to go second to John Atyeo in the club's all-time appearance list. Is this true? Thomas Plummer, Ashton.
No. I am not sure where those reports have come from. I've actually played 570 matches for City, and Trevor Tainton played 581 - not that I am keeping count or anything! if I can keep my place in the side in the next three games I'll make my 600th career appearance against Plymouth which is strange as I made my 500th club appearance and went joint-third with Tins on 551 against the same side.
Fan Question: With the benefit of hindsight, if you were starting your career over again, would you have started out as a centre back rather than full back? Martin Alsop, Newmarket.
When I was young I always played at centre-back and then when it came to making my debut I started at right-back. I spent the season playing at full back and then, when we won promotion under John Ward I moved to centre-back. I stayed in that position until Danny Wilson's era when I alternated. Playing at right-back is great when you're winning games and getting forward but as a centre-back you're more in the mix.
Fan Question: When in full voice, does the Atyeo Stand or the East End sound louder to the players? Jason in Kingswood.
The East End because of the roof. It then seems to filter round to the Williams Stand. Even when we didn't have fans in the East End, it was still the loudest stand with a couple of hundred supporters, again due to the roof.
Fan Question: How does it affect the other players when players leave like Trundle or Adebola, etc? Andy Baker, Hartcliffe.
That's football and life. People sign 18-month contract and year deals. Players move on to play more football, get more money or to be nearer their families. You get used to players coming and going throughout your career. You do find it sad when you are friends with players but it happens in football.
Fan Question: I noticed that City were attacking towards the East End in the second half of the game against West Brom, when historically we normally attack towards the Atyeo in the second half. Did you win the toss and elect to change ends for this match? Tim Bolt, Bristol.
We don't normally opt to choose that option but I did on this occasion. It was an early kick-off and it was down to the sun.
Fan Question: What youth teams did you play for before Joining Bristol City? (i.e. Ashton Boys FC). Mitch Ford, Ashton Vale.
I played for Whitchurch Sports, Bromley Heath and Brentree. Mel Rogers from Bromley was brilliant for me, and so was Colin Rudge at Brentree.
