The football season's back and that means I'm writing a blog for bcfc.co.uk again!

In all fairness we didn't get an awful lot of time off over the summer months and it was certainly a busy close season for me.

I had an operation on my ingrowing toe nail straight after the end of the season, which meant I had to travel to Marbella with a few of the lads with a massive bandage on my foot! I did a bit of colouring in to make it look natural though, seen below.

It was only a four-day break, and on my return to England I had my nose operated on. I'd broken it (again) during the season, against Southampton, but wanted to wait to the close season for the op so as not to miss any games.

That meant going on a family break to Cornwall for my mum's 60th birthday looking like the Elephant Man. It was boiling hot in Watergate Bay, especially in my mask.

My final trip was to Lanzarote with the missus for a week. Then it was straight back into training.

I'm glad to report my nose and toe have both healed perfectly ahead of the new season, which begins at Blackpool this weekend.

It's always a difficult place to go and I remember in the promotion season of 2006/07 they went on a terrific home run to join us in the Championship - and we were the only team to beat them at Bloomfield Road.

Last year we earned a draw up there early in the season. Like us, they've added to their squad over the summer but hopefully we can come away with some points to show for our efforts.

We've still got the buzz of last year, knowing we can cope with the league. We've made a couple of signings, which will also give us some confidence.

To get off to a good start is massive for us and I don't just mean the first game, I'm talking about the first ten-game period.

I'm sure you'll be out in force at Blackpool this weekend and hopefully we'll give you the perfect start to the season.

Enjoy the game!
