We knew it was going to be a fight at Crystal Palace on Tuesday night and I was delighted it was us who came out on top.

The overall team performance was excellent. We needed to take charge of the opening exchanges to boss the game and we certainly did that.

We kept the ball at times, kept them at bay really well and created a number of chances as well.

I remember the goals we scored in the play-off semi-final at Palace - myself and Nobes - and Chris' strike was another beauty. However, I have to say his comes a poor third out of those three goals. Nobes was second and mine was the best - his was a last minute throw of the dice whereas I practiced that free kick routine all the time in training!

Anyway, we don't have much time to reflect on Tuesday night as we have another match this weekend at Reading.

Reading are on a good run at the moment; they ran Aston Villa close in the FA Cup and secured a superb 4-1 win over Derby in the week.

The good thing is we always travel with good support at the Madejski Stadium and I'm sure this weekend will be no different.

If you're heading along the M4, please get behind the lads like you usually do and we'll hope to repeat our victory there from last season.
