JUNIOR ACADEMY PLUS

Posted on: Mon 06 Dec 2010
Bristol City have launched an exclusive members club for its Junior Academy players.

The club already have more than 600 on its books and have just finished recruiting a new batch of youngsters for trials via the Evening Post and Western Daily Press.

Now a new scheme, Junior Academy+, aims to build on that success and win a new generation of support for the football club.

For £10, benefits include a medal, certificate, team poster, free entry into a draw for match tickets and signed ball and free entry to all home league reserve games.

Academy+ members will also get a discount on an exclusive new range of Junior Academy merchandise.

They will be presented with their certificate and other goodies at a presentation evening attended by first-team players.

Education & Welfare officer Pete Coleman says: "The youngsters attending our courses are incredibly enthusiastic about their football and it would be great to think they will retain a connection with the club and turn into City fans of the future.

"We believe the new Academy+ scheme will bring them closer to the club at the same time as giving them some great mementos.

"I must thank our chairman Steve Lansdown who has been involved in this project from the start and everyone involved, in particular the FA and Puma, and the two local papers."

Junior Academy players are trained by a professional team of coaches with experience of working with children from six upwards.

They join a skills development group where the emphasis is playing small-sided games and learning new skills. They will also introduced to the Junior Academy's healthy lifestyle programme.
