Cardiff City youngster heads to the Gate.
City have secured the loan signing of Cardiff City goalkeeper Dave Richards.
The 19-year-old joins on loan until January 1st, at which time Richards will join the club on a permanent deal.
Frank Fielding was sidelined with a hand injury in midweek but could return for this weekend.
However, Richards – who spent time with Welsh Premier League side Llanelli AFC during the 2012/13 season – will provide further goalkeeping competition.
He is well-known to current custodian Elliot Parish, who joined from Cardiff in the summer, and goalkeeping coach Lee Kendall, another to be recruited from South Wales.
Kendall said: “He’s become available after Cardiff signed Simon Moore from Brentford.
“He’s a young lad who works very hard and will provide further competition. We’ve a good group of keepers, with young Max O’Leary doing well too.
“We tried to get Dave in for Tuesday but the deal was held up due to international clearance. He’s in the middle now though and raring to go.
“Competition is important to push each other and keep everyone on top of their game.”
Richards is expected to feature regularly for the club’s development team. He has been given squad number 32.
