City have agreed the emergency loan signing of Leicester City midfielder Neil Danns for a month.
The 29-year-old arrives in time to join up with the squad ahead of Saturday’s npower Championship clash with Blackpool at Ashton Gate.
Manager Derek McInnes told bcfc.co.uk
: “I’m very pleased to be able to bring Neil to the club.
“He’s hungry and determined to do well. He’s a tenacious midfielder who brings experience and quality to our squad.
“He hasn’t played as many times as he would have liked for Leicester for this season, but given the amount of quality players they have and the form they are in, that’s nothing to be ashamed of.
“Neil is desperate to play games for us, he brings another level of quality to our squad he can’t wait to get going.”
Liverpudlian Danns began his career at Blackburn Rovers, having signed for the North West club after graduating from the FA’s school of excellence in Lilleshall.
He had brief spells with Blackpool and Hartlepool United on loan, before shooting to prominence with Colchester United in the mid-2000s.
Danns was a star in the U’s midfield which won promotion to the Championship in 2006, and that prompted Birmingham City to splash out £500,000 for his services.
He spent two seasons with the Midlands club before moving to Crystal Palace, this time for a fee in the region of £600,000.
More than 100 appearances later, Danns was signed by former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson at Leicester City in 2011.
Now, having only made one start and two substitute appearances for the Foxes this term, Danns will be looking for regular match action at Ashton Gate.
The deal is subject to Football League approval. It runs until December 12th, allowing him to play five games for the club up until the away fixture at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, December 8th. He takes shirt number 38.
